More remarkable progress by the 2857 Society volunteer boilersmiths over the last few months. Smokebox removed, smokebox tubeplate removed, copper tubeplate removed and almost all the crown stays fitted.

Platework for patches over the shoulders of outer firebox are being prepared before a good deal of heat and force is applied to form these to shape.
The new sections of the firebox wrapper have been welded in place.

Work continues overhauling the boiler in Bridgnorth boiler shop.
The lower section of the firebox wrapper has been cut out ready to be replaced with new plate. The old piece lies on top - the grooving above the foundation ring can just be seen.

Undergoing conversion into an A4 to match
the coach behind?? A temporary protective canopy frame work
has been built over the loco frames. The front running plate
over the front drag box area has been rebuilt and stripping,
cleaning and painting continues.
Churchward 3500 gallon tender. The tank
is an all new construction faithfully following the original.

2857 Society volunteers work on the boiler
inside Bridgnorth boilershop preparing the foundation ring
for removal. There's been a great deal of progress with
the boiler over the last year with most of the 700+ side
stays now removed.

The frames back at Bewdley after front
drag box repairs at Bridgnorth. The cylinder shine after
a coat of aluminium heat resistant paint.

The boiler has been lifted at Bridgnorth
and placed on a Weltrol wagon in the boilershop ready for
work to start.
