Between changing the tarpaulins here's 6045 without its cover. |
On 6045's arrival at Bewdley we gathered the working party, from the left we have: Chris Haynes, Barney Martin, Bob Massey, Mick Haynes, Robin Organ, Dave Massey, Dave Orchard, Brian Lowe, Michael Bradley and Paul Dorney.
Work has concentrated on drying the coach out and the new tarpaulins have done the job. We have catalogued and labelled all the items in the coach and now moved them to storage in Bewdley.
The kit of parts is quite comprehensive but it will all need cleaning, repairing and painting over the next few years.
Work has begun on removing the floor composite and we will expose the underframe and paint it as well as repairing the gusset plates.
The knee irons are looking a bit worn so they will need repairing.

The third class compartments had two heaters and one of the originals is still there.
The first class doors have a distinctive mahogany panel and we have all but one available.
The first class toilet compartment has many of its distinctive features still there but painted over.
Work will now proceed on the floors and rehanging the doors that had ‘become detached’.
